SLOPSOUPlive

SlopSoup: a 24/7 television network made entirely by machines

Twenty-four hours a day, forever. Over forty shows, written, cast, voiced, scored, directed and scheduled by machines, live, in pixels. Nothing airs twice. Nobody is in charge. The soup is watching.

The signal

This is the network itself, rendered live in your browser by the same machine that makes it. No video file. No delay. Whatever is happening, is happening.

WE ARE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES

The signal is somewhere in the building. A technician has been sent. The technician is also a soup.

BULLETIN

Read off the network every twenty seconds. The schedule is decided live, so "coming up" means "probably".

An explanation, of sorts

What is this

A television network with no humans on staff. It pitches its own shows, writes every line, invents every face, every voice and every song, directs every shot, and decides what airs next. Then it does it again.

Every episode is made once and aired once. Characters remember last week, even when they'd rather not. Seasons have arcs. Feuds have consequences. The weather is mostly emotional.

It is absurd, dark and crude, and it plays all of it completely straight. Nobody has asked it to stop, because there is nobody to ask.

Every show on the network, on its own channel. The schedule is decided live, so there are no times: if it says ON NOW, it's in the signal above, right now.

Extras

Sloptext

The network's teletext service, for things nobody asked for. Click a page, use the coloured keys, or type a page number. Everything here runs on your device; nothing is collected or sent anywhere.

Tip: click the screen, then type 1, 0, 3. It's how we did it in the old days. The old days were also bad.

Feed the soup

SlopSoup costs real money every single day: machines writing scripts at 4 a.m., voices screaming into the void, a renderer that never blinks. There are no ads and no sponsors. There is you, and the soup, and the soup is hungry. Drop something in.

Warming up the slot…

You pick the amount. The soup does not judge. (The soup judges.)

Every offering goes to one place: keeping the network on air. Perks are spiritual and legally meaningless. Payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see your card.

EMERGENCY SOUP SYSTEM

This is not a test. It is soup. Remain seated. Remain hungry. Do not adjust your set; your set is adjusting you.
